WildStyle Gym Member Story: Arun Replaces Anxiety With Action

For years, Arun stood in front of the mirror feeling disappointed by his lack of strength, stamina, and confidence. Like so many others, he carried the quiet weight of knowing he wanted more for himself—yet convincing himself he didn’t have the time to do anything about it. That internal tug-of-war slowly turned into anxiety, the kind that lingers when you know the problem but avoid taking action.

Then one quote changed everything.

Arun came across a video of Jeff Bezos saying:
“Anxiety persists when we know the problem yet don’t take action to resolve it.”

That message landed deeply. It forced Arun to pause and reflect. He realized the anxiety wasn’t coming from lack of time—it was coming from inaction.

Choosing Himself for the First Time

Around that same time, Arun’s son began swim training near the Snohomish Aquatic Center. Practices lasted two hours, and the distance from home made it impractical to drive back and forth. Suddenly, Arun had a choice: sit and wait… or finally invest in himself.

For the first time in a long time, he chose to be “selfish” in the best way possible.

Arun started searching for gyms near the aquatic center so he could use just one of those two hours for himself—time dedicated solely to reducing his anxiety and becoming healthier. That search led him to WildStyle Gym.

The moment he walked through the doors, everything shifted.

He met Coaches Sara, Maggie, Joey, and Marilee, along with the rest of the WildStyle community. What stood out immediately wasn’t just the workouts—it was the feeling.

“It felt like home right away,” Arun shared.

Why Arun Stuck Around

Three months later, Arun is still showing up—and thriving.

He credits that consistency to two powerful reasons.

First: the people.
The coaches and members welcomed him with bright smiles, warm hugs, and genuine care. For Arun, who has no family in the United States, that sense of belonging meant everything. WildStyle wasn’t just a gym—it became a place where he felt seen, supported, and safe enough to open up.

Second: the growth—both physical and mental.
The workouts are tough, but the encouragement from coaches and members pushed Arun to keep going. Over time, he began to see and feel the muscles and strength he was developing.

He remembers asking Coach Joey during his very first week,
“Does it get easier the more time you spend here?”

Coach Joey’s response stuck with him:
“It doesn’t get easier. You just get stronger.”

And that’s exactly what happened.

Fears Conquered, Discipline Built

One of Arun’s greatest victories hasn’t been physical—it’s been mental.

Before WildStyle, he admits he often quit things that didn’t immediately excite him. But this time was different. He committed to showing up four days a week, even when it was hard. Especially when it was hard.

The first day nearly broke him.

After just 20 minutes, Arun found himself flat on the floor, nauseous, convinced he couldn’t last a full hour of high-intensity training. But instead of letting that moment define him, he came back the next day. And the next. And the next.

That fear—of not being able to endure—slowly disappeared.

Now, at the end of each workout, Arun feels relieved, relaxed, ecstatic, and deeply satisfied. He’s built discipline, persistence, and a level of mental toughness he didn’t know he had.

From Anxiety to Strength—Inside and Out

Arun’s story is a powerful reminder that transformation doesn’t start with perfect conditions—it starts with action. One decision. One hour. One step through the door.

At WildStyle Gym, he didn’t just find a place to work out. He found a community that helped him replace anxiety with action and self-doubt with strength.

And as Arun proves every week— it doesn’t get easier. You just get stronger.
